Character · The Glass Palace
Tamsin
Lantern mistress of the Glass Palace
Tamsin is fifty-six, in the Court’s service but not noble: neither Longlived nor Weaver. Since 982 she has been lantern mistress of the Glass Palace, keeping the light of the bridges and of the doors, the guards’ moss lanterns and the stored light the Court buys. She works from the Lantern House, a long warehouse of stone and glass at water level.
On the night of the Breaking she lost almost all her stock of stored light. She keeps two dead lanterns on a shelf: Ilsa’s last and Nyra’s first.
